Burnout and resilience are commonly considered two ends of a spectrum, but that’s not scientifically true. Burnout is an external state influenced by systems, while resilience is an internal trait influenced by science. In this talk, Dr. Aditi dispels the myths of burnout, stress & resilience with a new framework to address the immediate mental health needs brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic. She leads with real-world data on the science of pandemic burnout and highlights key science-backed strategies to thrive during this challenging time.  

 

A Cure for Pandemic Fatigue: Optimizing Mental Health & Productivity During Covid-19

70% of employees feel that the pandemic has been the most difficult experience of their entire professional career.  Rates of anxiety, depression and insomnia are on the rise, along with prescription medications to treat these conditions.  While the pandemic is known to be a public health emergency, it is equally creating an occupational health crisis. In this talk, Dr. Aditi highlights the mental health impact of Covid-19 in the workplace, and offers insightful, practical and science-based strategies to boost mental health and productivity during this unprecedented time. 

 

Building Resilience in the Mind, Body & Spirit During COVID-19 and Beyond

Covid-19 is the great equalizer, but resilience is the antidote.  In this talk, Dr. Aditi educates and empowers her audience by offering practical, science-based insights on optimizing resilience (and immunity) in the mind, body and spirit during Covid and beyond.  She outlines strategies such as a media diet, sleep as a therapeutic intervention, training the brain to exercise, and the immune benefits of the gut-brain connection.  The talk concludes with an experiential virtual meditation session led by Dr. Aditi.

 Why Stress Isn’t Talked About in the Doctor’s Office

Nearly 60-80% of primary care visits in the US are stress-related, yet only 3% of primary care patients receive stress management counseling by their physician. These findings, from a national study published in JAMA by Dr. Aditi and colleagues, encouraged Dr. Aditi to develop a clinical practice in stress management. In this talk, Dr. Aditi shares insights and real-world examples of her experience building, growing and sustaining a clinical program in stress & resilience at a Harvard teaching hospital.
